Emergency evacuation device manufacturer Promove UK Limited is now showcasing its amazing new product at Disabled Living in Manchester.
Disabled Living North West is one of the largest Disabled Living Centres in the UK and has over 110 years of experience and knowledge on disability issues. The charity provides an invaluable service to older and disabled people of all ages and offers a comprehensive range of services to improve the quality of life of disabled people, their families, carers and the healthcare professionals that support them.
The Promove emergency evacuation sling is now on display and available to trial at Disabled Living’s centre situated only five minutes from Victoria Station at Redbank House, 4 St Chad’s Street, Cheetham, M8 8QA. The sling will be displayed amongst other pieces of equipment such as stair lifts, wheelchairs, scooters to kitchen and household Assistive Technology.
The centre offers impartial advice and information about Assistive Technology and products to help people make a more informed choice that will enable easier, safer and more independent living at both home and at work.
Jane Vevers, Training & Education Coordinator said: “As the largest centre in the Assist UK network, Disabled Living North West is often the first port of call for manufacturers launching new products and services. We always try to keep up to date with cutting edge equipment. The Promove sling is different to any piece of equipment we currently showcase, and we believe it will be an invaluable device for disabled individuals”.
The Promove sling is designed for moving and handling incapacitated or disabled, including bariatric individuals in confined or outdoor spaces where a hoist cannot be used.
Dr Huw Thomas, creator of Promove said: “We hope our links with Disabled Living will be the first of many, and believe that having our sling on display and available to trial will demonstrate its advantages for disabled individuals whatever their situation”.
The sling allows an individual to be moved without being manhandled and with the least risk to the operator. It has been independently tested to move a range of different sized individuals, from children eight years old to large adults weighing up to 45 stone.
Promove is easily placed beneath an incapacitated person whether lying on the ground, seated in a chair or restricted in a tight corner. It provides good support, forming a bucket shaped seat, giving a sense of security for moving and transferring.
